From the WWE Rumor Mill: Talent nervous of releases due to recent NXT call-ups
Could the new call-ups mean more releases are on the way?
What's the story?
The Raw and SmackDown rosters received a major facelift in the form of five new female call-ups from NXT. Although Paige was returning from injury and wasn't technically a "call-up" she was still returning from injury which is taking another spot.
With six spots filled on the female roster, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports some "marginal talent" are nervous about their spots because there are likely to be some cuts on the way.
In case you didn't know...
There are only so many spots to go around. Whenever WWE overhauls their roster there are sure to be some switches on the way. Although they did just lose Emma and Summer Rae, that probably doesn't leave all the room required to find room for every one of these new roster additions.
The heart of the matter
The Raw and SmackDown after Survivor Series was plenty exciting for sure. Nobody could've foreseen the debuts that took place, including the rest of the roster. As it turns out, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports a lot of talent are nervous over the security of their spots in the company at this point.
Dave Meltzer noted that with all of these additions, some subtractions are bound to be around the corner and this is the concerning part to some of the "marginal talent" backstage.
In the upcoming weeks, the two new stables of females on either roster will probably grow in strength. A whole new world could open up for these women and the roster could experience a great rejuvenation due to this new talent injection.
But in the process, it wouldn't be surprising to see a couple people receive the best of luck in their future endeavors in the process.
I am very excited for the additions of Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville, Ruby Riot, Liv Morgan, and Sarah Logan. But at the same time, I am a little worried that some other women might lose their spot.
After all, there are only so many segments they can use for female talent. Since WWE has yet to pull the trigger on an all-female show some people might go weeks without being featured on television at all except to put over this new wave of talent.
