From the WWE Rumor Mill: There could be more segments like The Ultimate Deletion

Will
Will "Woken" Matt Hardy be a success in WWE?

What's the story?

According to a report from Sports Illustrated, Vince McMahon was pleasantly surprised by the reception that The Ultimate Deletion received on social media. This could pave the way for more segments of this variety in the future.

In case you didn't know...

The original Final Deletion was meant to be the conclusion of the rivalry between Matt and Jeff Hardy. While most a number of fans and pundits were initially skeptical about the concept, it was eventually received with acclaim. The "Broken" Hardys connected with the wrestling fans and managed to gain a cult following.

In fact, if it wasn't for their "Broken" personas, WWE may not have been interested in signing the Hardys.

The heart of the matter

Even though he initially thought that it would bomb, Vince McMahon was impressed by The Ultimate Deletion. Several reports have stated that he's open to putting more Hardy Productions on TV.

When asked why he was "Woken" and not "Broken" in the WWE, Matt Hardy said, " when I returned home to the WWE, I had such an amazing ovation at WrestleMania from the WWE Universe, it suppressed my issue. It went dormant for a while, but once I touched the black magic of Bray Wyatt, it awoke my white magic. Hence, I am 'Woken' Matt Hardy and now I am going stronger than ever before, growing stronger by the day."

What's next?

Matt Hardy will compete in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania and is expected to form a "Woken" stable that will include Bray Wyatt.

Author's take

The Ultimate Deletion was an interesting segment. While it didn't have the same magic as some of the Hardys' segments in Impact Wrestling, it represented a welcome departure from WWE's standard fare.
