From the WWE rumor mill:  WWE Creative is not fond of Paul Heyman's influence on story lines

The advoc
Paul Heyman, the advocate for the reigning, defending, Undertaker-streak-conquering beast- Brock Lesnar...

What's the story?

According to Dave Meltzer at the Wrestling Observer, some of the WWE Creative team is not happy with one particular manager (or advocate). Word is there is some friction between the creative team and Paul Heyman with regard to segments with Brock Lesnar.

In case you didn't know...

The first time Paul Heyman aligned with Brock Lesnar in the WWE was in 2002 while Brock was in the Ohio Valley Wrestling developmental territory. He originally was a mentor to Lesnar before Vince McMahon decided to have Heyman manage him.

Over the years, their association has grown stronger, and it is impossible to imagine one without the other.

The heart of the matter...

Meltzer states that Heyman is taking it upon himself to change the direction of the recent segments in-ring involving himself and Lesnar. This isn't going well with the creative team as they see it as a slight to them.

Meltzer also stated that Heyman has a lot of influence with Vince McMahon; which gives him the liberty to make alterations to the original plans. Heyman was once the lead writer of for Smackdown from during 2002 and 2003 during the first brand split, so he definitely has expertise in what is good and what will work for enhancing the story lines for Lesnar.

One final note that Meltzer would provide is that Lesnar would have gone along with creative's original plan if Heyman wasn't around. There was no word on what those original plans were, or what changes were made at Paul Heyman's insistence.

What's next?

The next challenger for Brock Lesnar's WWE Universal Championship is Braun Strowman. These two will clash at No Mercy in a little more than two weeks on September 24th.

Author's take...

In my opinion, Paul Heyman is one (if not THE one) of the greatest minds in professional wrestling history. With that said, if he wants to change anything that is given to him by WWE Creative, I have zero problems with him doing so.

Sure there may potentially be some hurt feelings within WWE Creative, but that is a part of the business. You're going to get shot down more often than green lit when it comes to the creative idea process. It just comes with the territory.
