From the WWE Rumor Mill: WWE's plans for Bobby Roode on SmackDown Live revealed

What’s the story?

As reported by Dirtysheets.net, the WWE plans to put over recent SmackDown debutante Bobby Roode by having him defeat longtime main roster performer Dolph Ziggler.

On that note, WWE management initially planned for Rusev to put over Roode. In fact, the Bulgarian Brute was supposed to beat Randy Orton in a SummerSlam rematch and then lose to Roode on SmackDown.

However, plans changed owing to Rusev’s apparent displeasure with his current role in the WWE. As a result, the WWE has roped in Dolph Ziggler to put over Roode, in order to create a top babyface star in the ‘Glorious One’, much like they did by having Ziggler feud with Shinsuke Nakamura a few months back.

In case you didn’t know…

Bobby Roode, whose real name is Robert Roode Jr., is perhaps best known for his time in TNA/GFW.

The 40-year-old Canadian Superstar returned to the WWE recently and won the NXT Championship from Shinsuke Nakamura, which he dropped to Drew McIntyre.

The heart of the matter

Bobby Roode is now set to feud with Dolph Ziggler on SmackDown Live — a rivalry that will draw similarities from the Showoff’s recent feud with another 2017 SmackDown debutante Shinsuke Nakamura.

The WWE originally planned to have Rusev put over Roode, however, owing to the Bulgarian’s ongoing issues with the WWE, the company has chosen to bring Ziggler back on its TV programming in order to have him lose to Bobby Roode and make the Glorious One a bonafide star for the WWE’s blue brand.

Furthermore, despite the fact that Ziggler’s future with the company appears uncertain, WWE management plan to use him so as to make Roode look good against the possibly outgoing Showoff.

What’s next?

Bobby Roode presently performs for the WWE’s SmackDown brand and is said to have been accorded the role of a top star for the WWE’s Tuesday night show in the time to come.

Author’s take

In my opinion, the WWE has made an excellent decision by giving Ziggler the responsibility to put over Roode.

No one sells moves better than Dolph, and the man is a thorough professional in putting people over, as evidenced by several such instances on his highly respectable resume.
