What’s the story?

According to Cageside seats, WWE is expected to set up a match between John Cena and Undertaker at the 25th Anniversary episode of Monday Night Raw.

In case you did not know…

Undertaker’s last appearance for WWE came at WrestleMania 33. He lost to Roman Reigns at the event before leaving his gloves, coat, and hat in the middle of the ring and walking away.

John Cena, meanwhile, has been working a light schedule with WWE lately due to his other commitments. The Cenation leader, however, revealed that he will be an entrant at the Royal Rumble and if we go by the rumors, he is likely to be a mainstay for WWE on the Road to WrestleMania.

Heart of the matter

The rumor suggests that WWE might set up Undertaker vs. John Cena during the upcoming episode of Raw. The exact nature of the segment is, however, unclear.

WWE had earlier announced that both Undertaker and Cena would be part of the show. Also, there were rumors about a potential match between the two happening at WrestleMania 34.

What’s next?

The 25th Anniversary edition of Monday Night Raw will be filmed at the Barclays Centre and the Manhattan Centre this week. A string of legendary WWE superstars is scheduled to appear at the event including the likes of The Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Shawn Michaels.

WWE’s plans for the event are yet to be revealed but it’s expected to be a great show. Although it happens across two venues, it will be a standard three-hour show.

Author’s take

As things stand, this is just a rumor. Despite this, a John Cena vs. Undertaker showdown is good enough to excite the entire WWE Universe.

It’s a high profile match to make. Although WWE might get questions about the health of The Phenom, the hype and money involved in the match could make WWE lean towards booking this match.
