What's the story?

With reports from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE is currently in talks with Neville for him to return to the ring following his walk-out last year, with a potential return date ear-marked for April. However, further speculation suggests that WWE wanted the former Cruiserweight Champion to return much sooner.

In case you didn't know...

Neville walked out of an episode of Monday Night RAW some months back with reports surfacing that he was unhappy with his creative direction. Since then it seems he's been sitting out the remainder of his contract at home with a view to leave the company once it's up.

The heart of the matter

So, if the reports are true, WWE are looking for Neville to return around April, meaning a potential WrestleMania return could be on the cards. However, wrestling twitter scoopster rovert has suggested that they wanted Neville back a little sooner.

As you can see rovert is claiming that WWE wanted him to be part of their Cruiserweight Title Tournament that came about when the title was vacated after Enzo was future endeavoured.

With Drake Maverick calling the shots and 205 Live putting on weeks of fantastic matches now, Neville would be a great fit, but it seems the tournament wasn't enticing enough to overcome Neville's issues with the company.

What's next?

We have our first semi-final for the Cruiserweight Title with Cedric Alexander set to take on Roderick Strong. The other one will be made up from the winners of Buddy Murphy vs Mustafa Ali and Drew Gulak vs Mark Andrews.

Author's take

This a very unconfirmed report so definitely give it that grain of salt you have handily prepared when reading wrestling rumor articles. However, getting Neville back would be a great stepping stone in the reinvigoration of 205 Live, so I can believe the WWE would have at least asked him if he wanted to be in the tournament.
