From the WWE Rumour Mill: Another Superstar supposed to join the Cruiserweight division at Survivor Series

Sin Cara was supposed to join Cruiserweight Division?
Sin Cara supposed to join Cruiserweight Division?

What's the story?

At Survivor Series we're getting another Enzo Amore vs Kalisto match, with the Cruiserweight Title on the line.

We already knew that the original plans called for a traditional 5 vs 5 Survivor Series match made up of 205 LIVE Superstars, but what we didn't know, as wrestlinginc.com reports, was that another WWE wrestler was set to participate in the match and join 205 LIVE.

In case you didn't know...

Enzo Amore and Kalisto have been trading the Cruiserweight Title among themselves ever since Amore won the title off of Neville and the former King of Cruiserweights reportedly walked out on the company.

At Survivor Series Amore was supposed to head up the team of Noam Dar, Tony Nese, Drew Gulak and Ariya Daivari whereas Kalisto was going to team with Rich Swann, Cedric Alexander, Mustafa Ali and a surprise SmackDown LIVE Superstar.

The heart of the matter

You've probably already guessed, but Kalisto was going to be reunited with his Lucha Dragons tag-team partner Sin Cara, with the latter being added to the Survivor Series match, as wrestlinginc.com reports.

It appears this was a late change as last week there was a plan for a 5-on-5 Traditional Elimination Match with the Cruiserweights. The match was to have Team Captain Enzo, Noam Dar, Tony Nese, Drew Gulak and Ariya Daivari taking on Team Captain Kalisto, Sin Cara, Cedric Alexander, Mustafa Ali and Rich Swann.

What's next?

It's unclear why this match was changed, but it might have something to do with Sin Cara receiving an increased push on SmackDown LIVE with three back-to-back victories over United States Champion Baron Corbin.

But even then, if Sin Cara was no longer a suitable option, why not go for Gran Metalik as an alternative?

Author's take

As much as I have enjoyed Enzo Amore's Cruiserweight run, I've seen him vs Kalisto in singles action enough now.

The whole thing is wearing a bit thin when we could be having great matches with guys like Cedric Alexander, but they're missing out because the same match keeps happening again and again. I would've preferred the Traditional Survivor Series match.
