Alexa Bliss won't be the captain of #TeamRed at Survivor Series

What's the story?

Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss was expected to captain #TeamRaw in the 5 v 5 traditional Survivor Series match between the women of Raw and SmackDown LIVE. However, new rumours from PWInsider are suggesting that the WWE has bigger plans for the 'Goddess'.

In case you didn't know...

WWE's next big pay-per-view will be Survivor Series, an event that has now become a turf war between the WWE's two main shows, Monday Night Raw and SmackDown LIVE. At TLC 2017, the WWE released a video package hyping up the pay-per-view and the battle between #TeamRed and #TeamBlue

One of the marquee matches of the pay-per-view is expected to be Jinder Mahal vs Brock Lesnar in a champion vs champion match. Even though Brock Lesnar is expected to answer the challenge tonight on Raw, the match is effectively already confirmed.

The heart of the matter

However, it looks like the WWE have another massive champion vs champion match planned for Survivor Series, with Alexa Bliss facing the SmackDown LIVE WWE Women's Champion Natalya.

Raw Women's champion Alexa Bliss teased last night on Raw Talk on the WWE Network that she would be captaining the team. Instead, we are told that the current plan for the 11/19 Survivor Series is for Alexa Bliss to face Smackdown Women's champion Natalya on the PPV.

Alexa Bliss stated on Raw Talk after TLC 2017 that she was looking forward to captaining her team to victory at Survivor Series, but it is expected that two other female Raw Superstars will compete for that honour on tonight's Monday Night Raw, with Bliss being thrust into this battle of the women's champions instead.

What's next?

This would be a move that makes sense; if you're going to have a champion vs champion match with the male world title holders of each brand, why wouldn't you have one with the female title holders as well?

Author's take

I'm a huge fan of Alexa Bliss and her heel run as a Women's champion on both SmackDown LIVE and Monday Night Raw, and I think this would be a great direction for her to take.
