From the WWE Rumour Mill: John Cena's WrestleMania 34 opponent revealed

WWE is planning a huge match for WrestleMania
WWE is planning a huge match for WrestleMania

What's the story?

John Cena said some interesting words on this week's RAW episode. According to Cageside Seats, his WrestleMania 34 opponent is scheduled to be none other than The Undertaker in a WWE dream match.

However, the match will not be closing WrestleMania. Instead, betting odds indicate it will be Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar for the prized Universal Championship.

In case you didn't know...

Last year, The Undertaker took on Roman Reigns and suffered a crushing defeat at WrestleMania 33. He left his hat and coat in the middle of the ring, as many fans speculated that he had retired for good.

Since then, many rumours had emerged that he would be making a comeback. We spoke to JBL in an interview, where he indicated that he did not know if The Undertaker was done.

Bruce Prichard went on to say that The Undertaker had been looking better than ever.

The heart of the matter

This week on RAW, John Cena said the following during the opening segment:

WrestleMania can bring a legend back from the dead!

He went on to suggest that if he lost at Elimination Chamber, he had no way of making it to WrestleMania. This leads us to believe in the report that we've linked in this article, suggesting that The Undertaker and John Cena are on a collision course, because Roman Reigns is slated to win at Elimination Chamber.

At the same time, even a match of this magnitude will not close the show. Instead, it will be Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar who will battle in the main event match. Reigns has been in the main event of WrestleMania, three years in a row.

If the rumours are true, this will be his fourth appearance in succession, closing out WWE's grandest pay-per-view.

What's next?

We doubt anything will happen until Elimination Chamber. Based on the events that transpire at the pay-per-view, the WrestleMania matches will be determined. Things are getting exciting, on the road to WrestleMania 34.

Author's take

Fans have wanted to see The Undertaker vs. John Cena for a really long time. It'll be cool to see The Undertaker wrestling once more, if he's fit to compete.

It's ironic though that the winner of the Royal Rumble will not get to close the proceedings at WrestleMania 34.
