What's the story?

In the aftermath of Raw 25, where The Undertaker did not make things clear regarding his future in the WWE, Cageside Seats has reported that according to Dave Meltzer, the set-up for Cena vs The Undertaker at WrestleMania is still supposed to happen.

In case you didn't know...

Undertaker came to the ring in the Manhattan Center without dimmed lights on this week's episode of Raw. He delivered a cryptic promo where he talked about what he had accomplished in all his years in the WWE. He said that all his previous opponents can now 'truly rest in peace'. The speech was ambiguous and gave off the air that Taker was retiring from wrestling.

Cena met Elias in the ring, in the Barclays Center, where Elias struck the former 16-time WWE Champion on the back with his guitar, taking him down.

Undertaker and Cena did not come face to face on this week's episode of Monday Night Raw.

The heart of the matter

Raw 25 came and went with no hint as to what could be in store for The Undertaker this WrestleMania. Rumors were running abound that there was a chance that the Deadman would square off for his final match against John Cena at WrestleMania 34. The bout was rumoured to be set up on this week's 25th Anniversary Show of Raw, but that did not happen.

Cageside Seats has now reported that according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the set up for the match between John Cena and The Undertaker at WrestleMania 34 is still scheduled to take place in the 'next few weeks'.

Fans believe that this speech is to lull viewers into a false sense of certainty that the Undertaker has retired from in-ring competition. If Dave Meltzer is to be believed, the two may still run into each other at some point in the coming weeks.

What's next?

At the moment, Cena seems to be heading towards a feud with Elias. He was scheduled to feud with Samoa Joe post-Royal Rumble, but following Joe's injury Elias may have taken the spot to face the former Champion. Both men are to take part in the Men's Royal Rumble match this Sunday.

Author's take

Facing John Cena would be the perfect send-off for the Undertaker. Be it a win or loss, the Undertaker deserves a better bout than the one he had with Roman Reigns to be his curtain call with the company. There is no other performer like Cena, who could fill in that crucial role at this juncture.
