From the WWE Rumour Mill: Update on Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn after being sent home from UK tour

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens have been a thorn in SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon's side.

What's the story?

Mike Johnson of PWInsider is reporting that Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens will be at SmackDown Live this Tuesday for the Survivor Series go-home show.

In case you didn't know...

With a few days left in the tour of Europe, the WWE sent Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens home for "unprofessional conduct." Multiple sources confirmed to Mike Johnson that it wasn't one incident, but several that resulted in WWE taking action.

Take a look at what the sources told Johnson below:

There was an issue on last night's TV taping where the duo allegedly "did what they wanted" during the close of the segment with New Day, as opposed to being physically run off by the team. We are also told there was a situation where Owens was allegedly complaining loudly on a tour bus after the taping, which one person decreed was "the last straw following a long few days of touring." Another person who was on the bus cited that Owens was "just venting" and that it wasn't a major issue, but that the situation at TV may have exacerbated the situation, forcing WWE's hand.

The heart of the matter

Tuesday's edition of SmackDown Live will be five days before Survivor Series takes place where the main event is presumably the traditional 5-on-5 elimination match between Team Raw captained by Raw General Manager Kurt Angle and Team SmackDown captained by the SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon.

Ever since Zayn turned heel and helped Owens defeat Shane at Hell In A Cell the duo has been at odds with the Commissioner. Many speculate that they will attempt to cost Team SmackDown on the pay per view.

What's next?

The SmackDown Live episode mentioned will take place live at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. Advertised for the show are Zayn and Owens against The New Day as well as Charlotte Flair vs. Natalya for the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship.

Author's take

For some reason, I keep thinking this is a storyline and they're going to play it off as Shane McMahon sent them home for "unprofessional behaviour", but if multiple sources are telling Mike Johnson that this is legit, then maybe it is. I think sending them home from the tour is a bit harsh, but then again I'm not there to know the entire situation.
