GFW Impact Live Results (8/31): The Road To Bound for Glory continues

GFW

Global Force Wrestling was back with an exciting show full of plenty of surprises. As fans travel down the path GFW creates, there will be plenty of twists and turns as well as some traffic jams due to construction.

After all, GFW is still rebuilding themselves into the company they always should have been. With Bobby Lashley's imminent departure from the company in order the focus on his MMA career became all the more clear on this week's episode, the focus is now on building up new stars.

Lashley though said something really interesting in his statement regarding the future, which will be addressed in the coming slides.

We'll begin with the opening segment first featuring the new GFW Champion, Eli Drake.

#1 Eli Drake and Chris Adonis start the show

GFW

The show started with GFW Champion Eli Drake and Chris Adonis showing up to the arena. It was mentioned how Lashley and American Top Team hadn't arrived yet. It didn't take long before Lambert got into an argument with Jeff Jarrett.

Drake and Adonis are in the ring enjoying victory cigars. Drake says he's travelled around for fourteen years and now he has the title. Eli went on to say that he's angry about how long it took for him to get the title in the first place and he went on to brag about his win.

Drake said not even Jim Cornette could keep him away from the championship, after which Johnny Impact came to the ring. Impact told Eli about how everyone is sick of hearing him talk.

Eddie Edwards got a shot at the microphone and said that he was speaking up so he gets a chance. He told Johnny Impact that he outranks him because he had held the GFW Title before.

Eli Drake caused even more heat between the two and Jim Cornette came out to settle matters.

A match between Eddie Edward and Johnny Impact vs Eli Drake and Chris Adonis is booked for later in the show. If Drake's team wins he doesn't have to defend the title, but if Johnny or Eddie get the victory that's who will get the title shot.

Low Ki vs. James Storm

These two had a great match full of counters and the crowd was very into it. Eventually, Storm resulted in poking Low Ki in the eyes for a close two count. Ortiz jumped up on the apron to try and distract Storm. After the ref was distracted by this interference, Santana whacked Storm with the title. Low Ki hit a Warrior's Wrath and got the pin.

Result: Low Ki defeats James Storm

Sutter was making sure Allie was okay as she iced down her head. Garza Jr came in to check on her too. Sutter got angry at Garza Jr. and Allie said he was just checking on her. "I know what he was doing," responded Sutter.

Grado and Laurel Van Ness were seen in some room backstage as Joseph Park went over a wedding to-do list. The two realised that Van Ness is actually Canadian and not from the United States so that won't help Grado stay in America.

A promo ran for AAA Star, Pagano, who is coming soon to GFW.

Bobby Lashley was shown sitting with his American Top Team group talking about whether or not they should stay in wrestling. Lashley's coach spoke up and told him that now is the time to be in MMA but Lashley doesn't want the door to be closed on pro wrestling. Decisions, decisions.

GFW Main Event: Eli Drake and Chris Adonis vs. Johnny Impact and Eddie Edwards

These four guys fought hard in this match and the stakes were very high for Johnny Impact and Eddie Edwards. There was some nice tandem tag team action while Drake and Adonis played their parts as heels very well.

There were plenty of high spots as Impact hit a corkscrew dive over the top rope on Adonis. The heel team soon isolated Impact and he took plenty of damage while they cut the ring in half the best they could.

After a few close calls, Johnny Impact finally found himself calling for the Thursday Night Delight which is just his corkscrew elbow but he gave it a neat new name when he came to GFW. Adonis broke up the pin after he landed it. Suddenly after Adonis was sent to the floor, Eli Drake hit the Bottom Rung to win the match.

After the main event was over, American Top Team came to the ring from the crowd. Lambert got on the microphone and called all four participants in the main event to the ring.

Jim Cornette came out and told Lashley he will lose his spot at TripleMania if he doesn't manage his team better. Then Corney said Matt Sydal vs Eli Drake is booked for next week and it will be a GFW Championship match. Bobby Lashley wasn't too happy about that.
