What’s the story?

You never know where the winds can take you if you're a pro wrestler. One WWE Superstar who bid farewell to Vince McMahon and Company recently commented on whether he is going to make the move to Global Force Wrestling. Simon Gotch, now known as Simon Grimm, took to Twitter to deny that he was moving to GFW in the immediate future.

The background

WWE is looked at as the land of opportunity and Simon Gotch was a WWE Superstar who used his chances to excel and become an NXT Tag Team Champion. Alongside Aiden English, they were the Vaudevillains and brought a unique look and style to their matches. They also had a great entrance.

However popular and successful they were in NXT, that didn't translate to the WWE main roster very well. These two WWE Superstars were placed on the SmackDown Live show with little fanfare and were left to somewhat spin in circles for a while.

If they appeared on television you could usually bet they were losing and this continued for them the entire time they were on WWE's blue brand.

Simon Gotch was released from WWE after WrestleMania 33. Some say this was a mutual parting of ways while others say it had more to do with a backstage incident when Gotch tripped on a chair in the catering area and made a little bit of a scene.

For whatever reason, Aiden English was left without a tag team partner and he continues to deal with the challenges of being a singles star to this day. Simon Gotch took off to start making a name for himself in the indie scene and changed his last name to "Grimm" because WWE likes to keep names and gimmicks.

The heart of the matter

Simon recently took part in a Question and Answer session on social media. During his gauntlet of question answering he was asked about many different things. Some fans wanted to know what Simon was up to next in his career while others just wanted to know more about him.

One fan asked Simon if he intended on participating in Chikara's King Of Trios event and he replied: "that is up to Chikara." But when another fan asked Simon if he was GFW bound, the former NXT standout said, " Not today

What’s next?

Simon could very well find himself in a GFW ring soon enough. He didn't outright say he was going to be appearing for the company but that kind of response makes fans have to wonder. Currently, GFW has taped all of their television programming up to November. Therefore if we do see Simon appear on GFW's Impact Wrestling show, it won't be until after then.

Author’s take

Simon Gotch (or Grimm) is a no-nonsense kind of guy who was greatly underutilized during his time in WWE. For some reason, they just couldn't find a spot for him and fans didn't attachment themselves to the Vaudevillains' throw-back gimmick like they did in NXT.

Where ever Simon ends up fans should always expect he'll give them the best show possible. But GFW would be a fine home for Simon. After all, GFW does like taking misused WWE talent to show what Vince missed out on.
