Gunther to catch Randy Orton off guard on WWE RAW? Revenge for RKO explored

Randy Orton and Gunther's feud on WWE RAW en route to Bash in Berlin for the World Heavyweight Championship is continuously heating up, and The Viper took the first shot last week. However, The Ring General isn't exactly known to quickly forget about those who wronged him.

A couple of weeks ago, Randy Orton issued a challenge to Gunther at Bash in Berlin for the World Heavyweight Championship, which the champion quickly accepted. Last week on WWE RAW, The Viper showed why he captured the moniker by hitting The Ring General with an RKO. This week, The Apex Predator is scheduled for another appearance on the brand, but things might not go his way this time around.

While Randy would deliver his promo, he could be cut off by Imperium's music, with Ludwig Kaiser coming out. Both men could trade words and Ludwig would express his anger for what Orton did last week. However, this could simply be a distraction for Gunther to be able to rush inside the ring and deliver his own finisher to The Viper, highlighting the fact that he could also strike out of nowhere if he wanted to.

This way, the World Heavyweight Champion would get to take revenge and further amplify his thinking that he can do anything as the champion. On the other hand, it won't have to risk the legitimacy and knowledge of the wrestling veteran.

What booking flaw did a former writer point out in Randy Orton and Gunther's feud on WWE RAW?

Before The Ring General held the World Heavyweight Championship, he had a notable and legendary run with the Intercontinental Title. He continuously defended the title and had memorable feuds as the champion, too. However, the 666-day reign was cut short by Sami Zayn after he defeated Gunther for the Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania XL. Interestingly, a former WWE head writer considers this a major booking flaw.

On a past episode of The Wrestling Outlaws, Vince Russo expressed that he couldn't see Gunther beating Randy Orton after Sami Zayn defeated the World Heavyweight Champion months ago.

"I still can't get past the fact that freaking, how is Gunther gonna beat Randy Orton if Sami Zayn beat him? I still can't get past that, I'm sorry man," he said.

It would be interesting to see what will happen next between The Apex Predator and The Ring General tonight on WWE RAW.
