Gunther is now a two-time World Heavyweight Champion in WWE. The Ring General dethroned Jey Uso on the RAW after Money in the Bank and shocked everyone by defeating the YEET Master in a clean manner.
This victory of Gunther sparked many possibilities and multiple directions that WWE can explore. One of the scenarios could witness the Austrian star losing his World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions 2025 at the hands of a returning Goldberg.
For those unaware, the former Universal Champion is set to compete in his final match for WWE this year. However, the exact date and location are yet to be announced. The last time Goldberg appeared on television was on Bad Blood last October, where he was involved in a heated confrontation with Gunther after the Latter made some personal remarks against the veteran star.
Since then, there have been rumors of a showdown between the two stars. So, with Gunther once again becoming the World Champion, the Hall of Famer may probably return on RAW and attack the Austrian star to set up the match at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia.

Goldberg could go on to defeat the Imperium leader and win his fifth world title. Da Man has a strong record in the Middle East. So, it won't be a surprise if he pulls the same again at the upcoming Saudi Arabia show. If he manages to become the new champion, he might have a brief run as the World Heavyweight Champion in his final run with the company before hanging up his boots.
As of writing, this is a mere speculation, and fans have to wait and see if Goldberg returns to WWE programming in the upcoming weeks.
Night of Champions 2025 is set to take place on June 28, 2025, at Kingdom Arena, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It will be interesting to see how things move forward.
A veteran journalist has a major concern regarding the Goldberg vs. Gunther potential WWE match
A match between Goldberg and Gunther appears to be on the horizon for WWE. However, veteran journalist Bill Apter recently expressed his concern about this dream showdown.
Apter stated that the iconic star indeed looks good in the gym while training for the final match, but still, the question is how much back he will be in the ring properly. In a conversation with Sportskeeda Wrestling's UnSKripted, Bill stated:
"I hope Goldberg can look good with Gunther, if that's what's gonna happen. I know Gunther will do everything he can because Goldberg might look great in the gym right now, in practice. Several of the things can change in the ring. I wanna see him, you know, go out really well. But I don't think they would, I am not even gonna question that they are not gonna switch the title to Goldberg from Gunther."
There were many high-profile matches where the Hall of Famer suffered botches in his past WWE matches. With Goldberg recently revealing that he suffered multiple injuries while training, fans are concerned for the legend.
