How WWE can have Brock Lesnar dethroned As The Universal Champion

Lesnar has held the Universal title for 394 days as of today

Today marks Brock Lesnar's 394th day as the Universal champion. "The Beast Incarnate" won the title at WrestleMania 33 by defeating Goldberg and has been defending the title successfully ever since. Lesnar might not have defended the title as frequently as the other champions have, but he has always ensured that his opponents are completely annihilated, or conquered, as Heyman would put it.

During the past few months, Lesnar has defeated superstars like Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman, Kane, AJ Styles, and even Roman Reigns. While most of us were expecting Reigns to defeat and dethrone Lesnar at this year's WrestleMania, WWE shocked us all by having Lesnar beat Reigns. Moreover, Lesnar beat Reigns once again at "The Greatest Royal Rumble" pay-per-view, in a rather controversial manner.

The current status of Brock Lesnar's contract with the WWE is not known properly. But we can expect him to carry the title for a little longer. Lesnar is not booked for this Sunday's Backlash pay-per-view, but he will be defending his title at some point. Right now, it can't be said against whom will he be putting his title on the line. Still, we can expect him to be victorious once again.

What matters the most is who will win the Money in the Bank ladder match, as it will play an important role in dethroning Lesnar. Let's have a look at the options that we have. Braun Strowman seems to be the most prominent choice. Finn Bálor might be the crowd favorite, but I don't think WWE will have Bálor win the briefcase, judging by the way he is being booked right now. What about Seth Rollins? If you ask me, I would say he is the man who should hold the briefcase, once again.

Rollins winning the Money in the Bank ladder match makes the most sense. Remember the last time when Rollins won the briefcase? He cashed it in at WrestleMania 31, amidst the WWE championship match between Lesnar and Reigns. It was a time when WWE actually wanted to take the championship off Lesnar and wanted Reigns to become the champion. But the crowd did not want to see Reigns as the champion, which ultimately led to Rollins cashing in at "The Grandest Stage of 'em All" and becoming the WWE champion.

The situation is somewhat similar this time again. Lesnar has been the champion for a long time now and has defeated almost every big name that the company can offer. Lesnar has been booked as such an unstoppable force that now a MITB briefcase cash-in seems to be the only way left to take the Universal Championship off his shoulder.

According to me, Rollins should once again be the guy to do so. WWE has proved time and again that it puts a lot of trust in Seth Rollins. He is already a grand slam champion in WWE, the only guy to have held both the US title as well as the WWE title at the same time, the only guy to have cashed-in the MITB briefcase at WrestleMania and the only guy to have defeated Roman Reigns and John Cena in back-to-back matches. Pretty impressive, right?

Rollins is currently holding the Intercontinental championship, but I expect him to drop the title soon to someone like Drew McIntyre or Dolph Ziggler. That would prove to be a stepping stone for him towards the bigger picture, the Universal Championship.

I am expecting Lesnar to defend the Universal championship against Braun Strowman and Bobby Lashley in a triple threat match soon, most probably at this year's SummerSlam. Lesnar might manage to win, but he will definitely be bruised up after such a match. This would be the perfect time for Rollins to cash-in the MITB briefcase and do what so many other Superstars have failed to do, take the Universal Championship away from Brock Lesnar.
