Gail Kim is set to bid adieu to the sport.

What’s the story?

Gail Kim has announced that her upcoming match for the GFW Knockouts Championship would be her farewell performance inside the professional wrestling ring.

On that note, Kim asserted that she intended to finish her career on her own terms: competing in one last match in Canada — her country of birth.

In case you didn’t know…

Gail Kim is a Canadian professional wrestling legend and is widely regarded as one of the best female competitors to have come along in recent years.

The 40-year-old has already been inducted into the TNA Hall Of Fame and is a veteran of several notable promotions including Impact Wrestling and the WWE.

The heart of the matter

Gail Kim is set to face three of Impact Wrestling’s top female contenders at the promotion’s Bound For Glory PPV this November 5th.

Speaking of which, the vast majority of professional wrestling pundits believe that the legendary performer will indeed be done with the sport for good this time around; what with her having previously retired, only to come back to the sport.

However, Kim herself has strongly alluded that she does intend to leave the game whilst still having her bearings about; and believes that her native Canada is the best place to do so.

What’s next?

Gail Kim competes against Sienna, Taryn Terrell and Allie for the GFW Knockouts Championship at Impact Wrestling’s Bound For Glory pay-per-view that’s set to go down at the Aberdeen Pavilion in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on November 5th.

Author’s take

Gail Kim is a bona fide star and all-time-great. My hat is off to this icon, and it’s a kind of bittersweet experience to see her ride into the sunset.

On the one hand, you have one of the most beloved performers hanging up her boots for good, which is saddening. On the other, you have a family woman leaving the sport at a time when injuries have started catching with her.
