Impact Wrestling Results (March 22nd, 2018): Former TNA World Champion gets fired

The champion of the world!
The champion of the world!

This week's Impact Wrestling episode was stacked as they come. The yearly Feast or Fired ritual, a Knockouts title match and a Monster's Ball were the selling points heading into the show.

In case you missed it, EC3, Eli Drake, Petey Williams and Moose won their respective briefcases in the Feast or Fired match last week. The cases were opened in the main event of this week's show and it led to the departure of a former TNA World Champion.

That's not all as two titles were defended on a night of solid in-ring action. Here's what went down at the Impact Zone this week:

#1 Alberto El Patron and Austin Aries set up a World title match

Alberto El Patron kicked off the show with a promo on Impact World Champion Austin Aries. El Patron was grateful that we would finally face the 'real champion' but claimed that Aries was not the 'Greatest Man That Ever Lived'.

Aries interrupted the proceedings just when Patron had wrapped up and took the mic to cut an engaging promo. Despite coming from two different worlds, Aries said that he shares a similar love for pro wrestling just like El Patron.

Aries said that he wanted to end all the nonsense and will not be known as a paper champion once he shuts El Patron up at Redemption.

Patron and Aries trade barbs before Patron asked for Aries' music to be played so that he can walk back to the locker room. Aries reciprocated by asking for El Patron's theme to play, stating that it could be the last time he hears it last.

#2 Fallah Bahh vs Trevor Lee (w/ Caleb Konley)

Bahh Bahh Bahh!
Bahh Bahh Bahh!

The 425-pound Fallah Bah was quite over in the Impact Zone as Bahh! chants broke out before the match. Lee drew heat off his popularity with some trash talk before the match got underway.

Bahh dominated in the early goings until Konley helped Lee get the advantage with a distraction. Konley sent Bahh crashing into the stairs after Lee stunned him with a punt kick. The referee, in the meanwhile, was distracted by Lee.

The former X-Division Champion continued to mount the pressure on Bahh by keeping him grounded back in the ring.

The finish of the match saw Bahh head up to the second rope but Lee followed him with an attempted German Suplex off the turnbuckle. Lee diverted the referee's attention yet again and Konley connected with an uppercut on Bahh in the midst of all the chaos.

Lee then executed a roll-up from the second rope and got the three-count.

Video footage of Callahan getting the hotel room of Alisha unlocked by an unknown person was shown before the X-Division title match took center stage.

Rohit Raju, the Michigan-born wrestler of Indian descent, got a shot at Matt Sydal's X-Division title in short yet explosive championship bout.

After jockeying for position initially, Syda took control of the match despite Raju retaliating with a couple of strikes. Raju almost pulled off an upset during a spot in the match in which he connected with a running boot, forearm and a knee consecutively for a near fall.

A jumping knee from Raju got him another two-count before he was taken out by a bridged German Suplex. Sydal went up to the top rope for the finish but faced some resistance from Raju. Sydal dropped Raju down with a Sunset Flip Powerbomb, went back up and executed a picture-perfect Shooting Star Press for the win.

The champ didn't see that coming.
The champ didn't see that coming.

The challenger came in hot and caught Allie off guard with a few stomps in the corner. The Champion fought back with a couple of forearms but got kicked in her face for all her troubles.

Allie didn't give up on the forearms though and tried following it up with a cross body only to get caught in a Fall away Slam.

The champion continued with her efforts in making a resurgent comeback and finally shifted the momentum in her favor with a Code breaker that got her a really close fall.

Sienna looked to regain the title when she floored Allie with a discuss Lariat but Allie kicked out and hit the superkick for the win.

#5 Abyss (w/ James Mitchell) vs. Kongo Kong (w/ Jimmy Jacobs) (Monster's Ball Match)

The Monster returned to familiar playgrounds.
The Monster returned to familiar playgrounds.

Joseph Park finally unleashed the monster at the behest of Kong and his advocate in a match that is regarded as Abyss' brainchild.

Kong and Abyss kicked things off in brutal fashion as the trash can was brought into play. Kongo got the trash can treatment before the tables were brought into the equation. The table was set up in the corner and Kongo went up to the top rope. Abyss got the better of Kong, though and introduced the dreaded thumbtacks.

Abyss looked to chokeslam Kong on the tacks but was shut down with a Kendo stick courtesy of Jacobs. Abyss pushed Jacobs towards Mitchell who held a bat covered with nails. Kongo made the save and chokeslammed Abyss onto the thumbtacks

Abyss kicked out despite being pinned over the tacks. Kongo then set Abyss up on a table and looked for the big splash but Abyss recovered in time and powerbombed Kong through the wood.

Abyss finally got the barbed wired table into play but lived to regret the decision as he got chokeslammed onto it. Kong then finished the match with a big splash off the top rope.

#6 Feast or Fired

EC3 was written off tv this week.
EC3 was written off tv this week.

4 briefcases, 3 title shots, 1 pink slip. The winners of the Feast or Fired from last week assembled in the ring for the case reveals. Eli Drake was up first, who got a tag team titles shot in his briefcase. The former Impact Wrestling Champion was visibly unhappy and noted that he doesn't even have a partner to go through with the title match.

He threw the case and left as TNA veteran Petey Williams was next in line. The creator of the Canadian Destroyer got a guaranteed match for the X-Division title and he was quite pleased with the outcome.

Lastly, Moose and EC3 opened up their cases at the same time. While Moose got the prestigious Impact World title shot, EC3 looked shocked as he realized he had just been fired. He argued that it wasn't his case and got Jeremy Borash to open it for him.

Dismissing it as a joke, EC3 cut a promo talking about how he has carried the company all these years and that he can't be fired as he is Dixie Carter's nephew. The fans cheered for him but he told them to shut up.

Carter hit Borash with the case before Brian Cage came out and aid him out to end the show. As we all know by now, EC3 moved on to greener pastures of WWE NXT.

EC3 had the real feast in all honesty.
