What’s the story?

Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio revealed one of the last things on his bucket list during a recent interview with ESPN. Mysterio talked about the Kenny Omega vs. Chris Jericho match during the interview and also touched upon various other topics.

In case you did not know…

Rey Mysterio has wrestled all over the world during his illustrious career. He started off in Mexico with AAA before making an impact in the United States through ECW. Mysterio then became a mainstay in WCW’s Cruiserweight division where he found a good amount of success.

The biggest break for Mysterio, however, came during his spell in the WWE. He went on to win numerous championships in the promotion including the World Heavyweight Championship. He left the company back in 2015 and has been active in the independent circuit ever since.

Heart of the matter

The Master of 619 revealed that wrestling in the Tokyo Dome is one of the last things on his bucket list. Mysterio recalled that it’s one of the places that he hasn’t stepped foot in.

“I'm hoping that one day that'll happen. If that ever happens in the next couple years, God's looking out for me and saying, 'OK, here's one of your final wishes on your bucket list. Let's make this happen,'" he said.

As for the Omega vs. Jericho match, Mysterio said that both the wrestlers will pour their heart into this match. He also said that he is intrigued to see the outcome.

What’s next?

Mysterio is currently scheduled to appear for various independent wrestling shows across the world. He is set to appear in India later this year and will also be wrestling former Reality Television star Adam Maxted in March in the United Kingdom.

Author’s take

The career of Rey Mysterio has been legendary. He has already made his mark in Mexico and the United States while Japan has eluded him for a long time. Though he is no longer in his prime, Mysterio still has the star power to make it big in Japan.

If NJPW or any other promotion comes forward and signs him up for a short spell, Mysterio will be able to strike this wish off his bucket list. But then again, he is running out of time and it needs to happen fast.
