Is Liv Morgan's injury real or a storyline? The truth disclosed following WWE SmackDown

Liv Morgan
Liv Morgan's status was revealed on WWE SmackDown this week.

Liv Morgan was in visible pain during her WWE Women's Tag Team Championship match last Friday on SmackDown. It was later revealed that Morgan injured herself during the match. Michael Cole confirmed the injury this week on the blue brand.

Liv Morgan's injury is 100 percent genuine and not part of a storyline. Her injury forced Raquel Rodriguez to relinquish the women's tag team title this week on WWE SmackDown. The new champions will be crowned in a Fatal Four Way match on the May 29, 2023, episode of RAW.

Michael Cole noted during the show this week that Liv Morgan will miss a considerable amount of TV time due to her injury. WWE even played the shots from Morgan and Raquel's tag team title defense against Bayley and Dakota Kai to highlight her injury.

Morgan and Raquel initially defeated Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus to win the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship on the April 10, 2023, episode of Monday Night RAW. After the match, Trish turned heel on her tag team partner to kick off their long-anticipated feud.

Former women's champion could replace Liv Morgan

As seen on SmackDown this week, Bayley and IYO SKY confronted Raquel Rodriguez. The Role Model told the powerhouse she needs to find herself a partner for their match against Damage CTRL next Friday on the blue brand.

Former SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair could fill in for Liv Morgan during the match-up. The Queen hasn't been seen since she lost her title to Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 39. Charlotte could return after a month-long absence to team up with Rodriguez in the Fatal Four Way match to determine the new tag team champions.

It remains to be seen how Triple H will book the women's tag team division in the weeks to come.
