The Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins) are one of the most over tag teams in WWE. However, despite their skills and positive reactions, many still consider The Profits underrated and overlooked.
The Street Profits debuted in NXT in 2017, quickly rising as fan favorites and claiming the brand’s Tag Team Championship. They were drafted to the main roster in 2019, capturing the RAW Tag Team Championship in 2020 before trading titles with The New Day upon moving to SmackDown in October. Despite the initial success, the group has been falling behind in recent years which has caused some frustration for Montez Ford.
In a recent interview with Mail Sport, Montez Ford shared that although there's pleasure in doing what he loved and dreamt of, he still feels some frustration. Ford further stated that anything he tries to accomplish in life is either taking too long, been too long, or nothing is happening at all.
Montez shared that with new talents joining WWE, fans sometimes overlook established teams like The Street Profits, noting that it’s been four years since they’ve held a championship. Ford acknowledged that the team isn't often considered among today’s top tag teams, with their name mostly coming up in connection to being "handled" by The Bloodline. The superstar added that in terms of his dream job, "It is enjoying as it is frustrating."
The former Tag Team Champion reflected on his journey, noting that while he's achieved his dream job, he's made countless changes to try to succeed and wonders why "there's still no success." This has led him to consider whether it's time for a new approach and mindset, and to "start getting rid of people."
Why doesn't Montez Ford want to split up with Angelo Dawkins in WWE?
Despite showing signs of frustration in his recent tag team run, Montez Ford still remains with Angelo Dawkins and as it turns out, there is one simple reason why.
While talking to the Masked Man Show in September, Ford's wife and fellow superstar Bianca Belair shared that she thinks her husband loves to be in a tag team but is ready to go solo. She shared that Dawkins is Ford's brother and the latter feels guilty about splitting up. She added that Montez tends to downplay himself but all he needs is an opportunity to skyrocket.
It remains to be seen what will happen next with The Street Profits in WWE.
