WWE News: James Ellsworth on his role in WWE and challenging for the WWE World Championship

The Chinless Wonder has now main-evented Smackdown Live twice

James Ellsworth has had a fairytale run in WWE so far. From being simply an enhancement talent for Braun Strowman to squash on Raw, Ellsworth had gotten so over, that they called him back to be involved in the Smackdown Live storyline between AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose, and he has now appeared for numerous weeks consecutively.

Ellsworth was recently on the Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestling Podcast to discuss his current WWE run, among other things. Regarding his role in WWE, Ellsworth said that he just shows up to Smackdown Live TV and does exactly what is told of him.

He said that he has to stop and pinch himself, to figure out if it is all real because his dream is coming true before his very eyes.

Ellsworth never thought that he would have a WWE World Championship match on live television in the main event of Smackdown. He said that one day he’d be able to tell his grandchildren that he wrestled on television for the WWE World Championship match, and just how amazing an accomplishment that is. James Ellsworth credited the fans once more, for getting him to where he is. Apart from the fact that Vince McMahon took an instant liking to James Ellsworth, the Internet exploded with memes and jokes about Ellsworth, something that he thoroughly embraced.

Despite getting criticism from a vocal minority of fans on the internet who believe that the joke has gone too far, the audiences on SmackDown Live seem to love The Chinless Wonder.

Ellsworth is set to be the “mascot” of Team Smackdown Live in Survivor Series which takes place in a little over a week. He wrestled in the main event of Smackdown Live this past week as well:
