What’s the story?

Raw Superstar Jeff Hardy has been absent from WWE television since his injury last year but may be closer to a return if his recent medical evaluation yields good results.

Hardy was spotted in Birmingham, Alabama to check on the progress of his shoulder injury and to see if he could return in time for WrestleMania 34 per PWInsider.

In case you didn’t know

Jeff and Matt Hardy made an emphatic return at WrestleMania 33 and defeated three other teams to claim the Raw Tag Team Championships. They held the titles for 63 days before losing them to Cesaro and Sheamus (The Bar) in a Steel Cage Match at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view.

Just before Hardy got injured, the company seemed to be moving away from The Hardy Boyz tag team act and was placing both men in more singles matches.

The heart of the matter

The former World Heavyweight Champion suffered his shoulder injury during a Six-Pack Challenge on the 17th September 2017 edition of Raw. The participants in the match were The Hardy Boyz, Elias, Bo Dallas, Curtis Axel, and Jason Jordan and they were competing to determine the No.1 Contender for The Miz’s Intercontinental Championship.

Though the clip WWE uploaded to YouTube only shows the final minutes of the match, Hardy was experiencing issues with his shoulder as early as 20 seconds into the contest.

A week later, he was evaluated and revealed to have torn his labrum and rotator cuff. He had surgery in October and was given a time frame of four to six months to return.

As of this writing, Hardy should be in line for an early return, so competing at WrestleMania 34 could still be a possibility for 'The Charismatic Enigma'.

What’s next?

If Hardy returns in time for WrestleMania, the next issue would be finding him a spot on the card.

He could enter the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, compete for the Raw Tag Team Championships or could even be placed in a singles feud with Seth Rollins who also is rumoured to have no concrete WrestleMania plans yet.

Author’s take

Hoping that 'The Charismatic Enigma' can recover as soon as possible. It would be a shame if he couldn't make it to WrestleMania 34 after the impact he made at last year's show.

Hardy was hoping to wrestle The Undertaker at some point, but a match against Rollins would be good enough for me.
