Former WWE star Justin Gabriel recently appeared on Chris Jericho's podcast and discussed what led him to walk away from the company. He said that one of the main frustrations was having a gimmick he created nixed by Triple H.
Gabriel says that creative asked him to come up with some ideas, and he settled on a daredevil gimmick with the nickname “The Darewolf.” Apparently Vince McMahon was a fan and they even filmed promos of him doing various extreme sports. However, before they could air, Triple H decided to go in a different direction.
Gabriel also said that he tried his best to improve and get noticed, to the point of going to NXT of his own accord to work on his promos and in-ring style. However, this fell on deaf ears and he decided it was best to seek outside opportunities.
