WWE News: Kevin Owens vs Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship official for Royal Rumble with huge shark cage stipulation

The Big Dog gets another big chance at the Universal Championship

On Raw, General Manager Mick Foley told Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho that Owens would be defending the Universal Championship against Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble next month in the Alamodome. However, there is a big stipulation. Due to Chris Jericho’s shenanigans in recent weeks, Mick Foley revealed that Jericho will be locked in a shark cage suspended above the ring during the match.

This is similar to NXT Takeover: Toronto match when Authors Of Pain manager Paul Ellering was suspended above the ring in a shark cage. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. All of Kevin Owens’ title defences have been successful, but have all come through nefarious means, i.e, Chris Jericho's interferences. Now, that will not be possible.

To test it, Jericho was put in the cage, but Mick Foley accidentally signalled for it to be lifted up

There are five weeks left until the Royal Rumble. Last year, the Rumble saw the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line. That is very unlikely to be the case this time around. The Rumble already has two marquee names announced in Goldberg and Brock Lesnar. It will surely continue to build up to be a huge special attraction Pay-Per-View.
