The 2016 WWE draft took place at the DCU centre in Worcester, Massachusetts on the very first episode of WWE SmackDown Live. Raw commissioner Stephanie McMahon picked Seth Rollins as the #1 draft for her brand and Daniel Bryan picked the WWE champion Dean Ambrose as the first pick for his brand.
As many as 59 stars were drafted to both the brands with Heath Slater being the only one to remain unpicked at the end of the drafts. WWE Raw drafted 33 wrestlers while Smackdown accounted for 26. Finn Balor, American Alpha, Nia Jax, Alexa Bliss, Mojo Rawley and Carmella were promoted to the main roster from NXT.
