When Charlotte defeated Asuka on SmackDown Live for the Women's Title, fans were shocked. They had no idea why Vince McMahon suddenly booked this match between both females. According to some rumors, WWE had planned to merge the women titles at WrestleMania 35.
Other reports said that WWE wanted the Four Horsewomen to leave WrestleMania with the championships, which also didn't happen. The Boss ‘N’ Hug Connection lost their Women’s Tag Team Titles to The IIconics, while Charlotte lost her title to Lynch.
