Arn Anderson was recently on his ARN podcast (h/t Wrestling Inc), where he was talking about the various booking decisions he had seen in WWE during his long time there backstage as a producer and with various different responsibilities. During his podcast, he talked about Wade Barrett, and mentioned that WWE had made several mistakes booking him, talking about his King of the Ring run, and went on to talk about another — the time that he lost to John Cena.

Arn Anderson reflects on change WWE should have made to John Cena's booking

Arn Anderson talked about Wade Barrett's run in WWE and how his run was hurt by the time that Nexus was defeated by John Cena's team. Wade Barrett lost to John Cena during this feud, and according to Arn Anderson, this was a time that John Cena needed to lose.

"No, I think he [Wade] should've won, which he did, and the whole benefit - what you always have to do is strengthen numbers. The factions that were successful throughout history had strength in numbers, and the reason they were so frightening, and so scary, and so effective is they would utilize those numbers in careful ways to where you could beat all of them individually if you're a babyface. When they're all together, they were unbeatable, and that was the story you should tell with Nexus and you could have run with that for God knows how long."

Arn Anderson went on to talk about how the Nexus were unbeatable when they were together and it was simple to make sure that they would not be. However, the heat and frustration opportunities were lost out by WWE when John Cena beat them.

"You cannot account for all eight guys at every waking moment, and there's the one that you didn't see that gets you. It's a pretty simple concept, but man, you can build some heat and some frustration with the audience by using those numbers."
