WWE News: Booker T planning to contest for Mayor of Houston

The WWE Hall of Famer will attempt to start his career in politics in 2020

Another WWE Hall of Famer has made their intentions to get into politics known. According to CBS Houston, WWE and WCW Legend Booker T plans to run for mayor of Houston in the year 2020.

The announcement was made on Booker T’s podcast “Heated Conversations” on Sportradio610.

During the show, Booker T was also discussing getting into politics with former ECW and current WWE superstar Rhyno.

Rhyno recently ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the Michigan House of Representatives; during which time he and Heath Slater became the first men to hold the SmackDown Tag Team Championships.

When asked about Booker T’s qualifications, Rhyno felt that Booker T would make a great mayor and that wrestling helps prepare you for important roles like that. Rhyno said:

“Wrestling not only prepares you for life but it prepares you for positions like that because you feel the emotion from the people you know what they want, you’ve built yourself from where you were to where you’re at now.”

Booker T is one of the many WWE affiliates or former employees to make news in the political world. Just last week, former WWE CEO Linda McMahon was selected by Donald Trump to head the Small Business Administration once Trump takes office in 2017.

Donald Trump is a member of the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame and was elected President of the United States this past November. He will be sworn in as the 45th POTUS on January 20, 2017.

Fellow WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler tried to make it in politics when he ran for mayor of Memphis, Tennessee in 1999.

If Booker T is successful, he will be one of few wrestlers to be successful in politics. The most notable of whom is Jesse Ventura, who successfully ran for Mayor of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota in 1990 and successfully ran for Governor of Minnesota in 1998.
