WWE News: Charlotte on being an effective heel, not being overshadowed by Ric Flair

The pair broke off at the end of May

Charlotte was the final Divas Champion in history, and the first ever WWE Women’s Champion(now renamed Raw Women’s Championship). She may not be the only face of the Women’s Revolution, but there is no doubt that she is the star of it.

The 2-time Raw Women’s Champion spoke to Dailyrecord.co.uk and she gave her take on being an effective heel:

I’d be in the gym all day, studying footage at night but struggling to show the people that I want it and I’m not just Ric Flair’s daughter"

With regards to being overshadowed by her father Ric Flair, the 2-time Hall Of Famer and 16-time World Champion, she spoke candidly on that too:

"I had to try hard overnight to not let him overshadow me, so I worked that much harder because I was not going to let that happen

It is hard to argue that Charlotte has not been successful in achieving that. She is one of the most genuinely hated heels in the entire main roster, and any talk of comparing her to her father has practically vanished.

Even in NXT Takeover: Brooklyn this year when Bayley went to hug her after her match, the crowd erupted into a sea of boos for The Queen. This is just an example of the legit talent she has and the heat that she gets. She said in the same interview that her calling herself ‘genetically superior’ made her not likeable, and she tapped into that.

She is currently set to make history with Sasha Banks when they step into Hell In A Cell in 8 days time. There is no doubt that whatever the outcome, Charlotte will come out of the match looking like a star. Many consider to already be the greatest female star in WWE history.

Here is the time a few months ago when Charlotte turned on her father and set off on her own, or rather, with Dana Brooke
