CM Punk confronted John Cena on WWE RAW ahead of what's going to be their final match ever. Punk admitted to his storied rival that a seven-time Tag Team Champion is the best superstar in WWE right now.
This week on RAW, John Cena wasn't allowed to get too much in. He briefly took a shot at R-Truth and buried his legacy as a comedy character and a sideshow piece whose biggest accomplishment is copying the Greatest of All Time himself. Punk then came out to set up his final match against John Cena, which is set to happen at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia.
CM Punk told John Cena that the only reason he's the WWE Champion is because of the shortcut he took to get there. He said that Cody Rhodes is the best that WWE has right now. In case you didn't know, Rhodes is a seven-time Tag Team Champion in WWE, having had five different partners.
The promo was an intense one, with Punk telling Cena that the WWE Championship corrupted his soul. Punk admitted that the same thing happened to him in 2012.
However, CM Punk said that he wasn't trying to defend TKO or "billionaires" but stated that the fans are his true boss. He also took a shot at Cena for falling back on "The Final Boss," i.e., The Rock.
Cena refused to defend his title on RAW, so he set the stage for a match in Saudi Arabia. Interestingly, the last title match these two had was at Night of Champions nearly 13 years ago.
