CM Punk has never headlined WrestleMania despite being one of WWE's main stars during his two spells with the company. Legendary wrestling booker and manager Dutch Mantell thinks The Best in the World should main event WWE's biggest show of the year in 2025.
Punk returned to WWE television on the November 22 episode of SmackDown. The 46-year-old will join forces with Roman Reigns, Sami Zayn, and The Usos at Survivor Series: WarGames on November 30. The five superstars are set to face Bronson Reed, Jacob Fatu, Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa.
Mantell said on Story Time with Dutch Mantell that he expects the storyline to lead to a match between Punk and Reigns:
"I think CM Punk and Roman Reigns has sell-out written all over it. CM Punk, he has those really die-hard fans for him, and he's not really that good of a technician. Now, he's good, but he has great timing and he's a great talker." [28:22 – 28:49]
Paul Heyman has performed as Reigns' on-screen special counsel in recent years. The former ECW owner also appears to have rekindled his alliance with Punk, 11 years after they last worked together in WWE.
Dutch Mantell on another possible WrestleMania 41 main event
WrestleMania 41 will be held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on April 19-20, 2025. Several wrestlers will be in the running to compete in a main event, including Cody Rhodes, Gunther, The Rock, and Seth Rollins.
Dutch Mantell agreed with his podcast host James Romero that Rhodes vs. The Rock should headline one of the nights:
"Well, that's a great main event, and then you put all that underneath it. Now you have, legitimately, a two-night WrestleMania." [30:24 – 30:35]
In April, Rhodes defeated Reigns in the main event on the second night of WrestleMania 40. The previous night, Reigns and The Rock closed the show by defeating Rhodes and Rollins in a tag team match.
