The reigning Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes, recently revealed that he broke a major WWE rule. The American Nightmare was disappointed after failing to abide by the rule.
Since returning to World Wrestling Entertainment in 2022, Cody Rhodes has become one of the biggest faces of the company. At WrestleMania XL, the 39-year-old completed his story by dethroning Roman Reigns as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
Since then, The American Nightmare has defended his title against multiple opponents. He is now set to face one of his toughest opponents yet, Kevin Owens. They will lock horns for the gold at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 14, 2024.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the host asked Cody Rhodes if he took the Undisputed WWE Championship to his high school reunion recently.
The American Nightmare revealed that stars taking their title with them everywhere was an unspoken rule in the world of professional wrestling, but he broke that rule during his high school reunion.
"There are some, I guess, principal rules in sports entertainment, pro wrestling. And that evening, I broke one. 'Always bring the belt.' I didn't bring the belt. I don't know what was going through my mind. It was a little bit of a date night with the wife, which, by the way, we've been married 11 years," he said.
Cody added that he was disappointed with himself for not bringing the title with him at his reunion, as it could have been the life of the party.
"I didn't bring it. And gosh, I was such a disappointment. [I was with my buddies] We knew each other, this was high school. You know, we're back in it. And several people came up to me, and I don't remember having the best relationship with them in high school. But I remember them very nice [that day], 'Oh my gosh, I saw you on WrestleMania. Oh, can we get a picture?' [I go], 'Absolutely, yes!' [They say], 'Did you bring the belt?' I didn't. 'Oh well, yeah, nice seeing you. We're gonna go to the bar.' Just a buzzkill," he added. Former WWE writer can't believe Cody Rhodes is set to miss Survivor Series: WarGames
During an edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, former WWE writer Vince Russo said that he couldn't believe the Triple H-led creative team booked Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens for Saturday Night's Main Event instead of Survivor Series: WarGames 2024.
"That's unbelievable, man. God, that's just poor booking (Cody Rhodes missing Survivor Series). This Survivor Series they should have had this entire card at least four weeks ago."
It will be interesting to see what WWE has planned for Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens at Saturday Night's Main Event.
