Cody Rhodes recently addressed The Undertaker's surprising interference in his match at WWE WrestleMania XL.

The American Nightmare challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on night two of this year's Show of Shows. The Bloodline Rules match saw John Cena taking out Solo Sikoa before receiving a Rock Bottom from The Rock.

Meanwhile, The Final Boss was surprised by an unexpected appearance from The Undertaker, who chokeslamed him, allowing Rhodes to finish Reigns and win the title.

In an interview with the SI Media podcast, the new champion disclosed his reaction to The Undertaker's appearance.

"When I heard the gong and there was The Undertaker, the one thing I verbally, I might have even said it out loud was: 'This is 40 years of WrestleMania.' Gosh, the sheriff showing up, the judge showing up, certainly that energy in the building. You know, I asked them later if you wanted to do a tag team, I could ride in a little sidecar on the bike. Just a really special thing. I'm forever grateful to everyone who was involved on my side and everybody who was involved even on Roman's side," he said. [9:46 - 10:23]

The Undertaker commented on his appearance at WWE WrestleMania XL

The Deadman retired from in-ring competition four years ago after defeating AJ Styles in a Boneyard match at WrestleMania 36. Since then, the WWE Hall of Famer has made only a few sporadic appearances on TV.

On a recent episode of his Six Feet Under with Mark Calaway podcast, The Undertaker commented on his appearance at this year's Showcase of the Immortals. He claimed it gave him closure.

"Something happened this weekend, and I've been struggling with it since I retired. But this weekend gave me closure. It really did. It was fun, obviously, it was fun. I mean, doing this for as long as I have and being involved in that, and how important that storyline was and is, but when it was over, and I'm running out of the building, I'm like, I'm good now... My last match was in the Boneyard, there's nobody there, cinematic. It was like a moment of clarity, like, I'm okay now," he said.

Before WrestleMania XL, rumors suggested Stone Cold Steve Austin could return to interfere and take out The Rock during Cody Rhodes' match against Roman Reigns. However, WWE reportedly did not reach an agreement with The Texas Rattlesnake. Meanwhile, The Undertaker revealed that Triple H contacted him only a few days before the show.
