Cody Rhodes has been part of the wrestling business for nearly 18 years and has been part of the WWE locker room for a combined 12 years now. His father, Dusty Rhodes, was also a big name in the wrestling world. The business is, as they say, in his blood.
The former Undisputed Champion is also well-versed in the stark realities of the locker room and knows how things work. Having been part of the grind for so long, he knows the dark side of it, too.
In a recent conversation with Damian Priest on the What Do You Want To Talk About? podcast, the 39-year-old superstar shared an unfortunate truth about the WWE locker room. He said that not every superstar back there is a draw, and it's only a few names who move the needle.
“This is an unpopular thing to share, but I’ll share it. If you look at a roster sheet — in any company, any company — you’d be surprised at the percentage that actually — and I’ll use the term — earn, or draw, for a company. You’d think it’s a lot more. And then you look and it’s a small percentage. Now, it doesn’t mean people won’t, it doesn’t mean people aren’t getting there, it doesn’t mean context makes it so that a few times they do. But there’s a small percentage,” Cody said. [H/T: Ringside News]
WWE failed to hide these secrets - Check them out!
Although he didn't point fingers at any superstar, Cody meant that there aren't more than a handful of superstars who generate big business for the company. At the moment, Cody is inarguably one of those superstars. He, along with Roman Reigns, CM Punk, John Cena, Seth Rollins, and Gunther, are the top superstars of the locker room, and they get the fans' attention.
Cody has been the face of the promotion since WrestleMania 40, and he kept it afloat for a long period. Even The Rock had praised Cody earlier this year on RAW's premier episode on Netflix for carrying the company so well as the Undisputed WWE Champion.
Cody Rhodes also praised WWE Superstar Rhea Ripley
The American Nightmare had exceptional praise for former Women's World Champion Rhea Ripley. Calling her a star, Cody said that the Eradicator is inspiring, and she forces him to compete at her level.
“She’s also one who makes me want to compete — not in a stab-you-in-the-back type of way, but like, ‘Let’s go. You’re cruising? Cool. I want to be on your level. Let’s go. Every time she’s on the screen, it’s those moments of like, ‘Jeez, man. What a star. What a star," Cody said about Rhea Ripley.[H/T: Ringside News]
Rhea Ripley is one of the biggest female superstars in the promotion. She is a two-time WWE Women's Champion, and her first stint at 380 days is on par with Bayley's as the longest in history.
