Cody Rhodes tells ex-Intercontinental Champion that they can't keep running away from each other forever

Cody Rhodes had a very interesting confrontation and interaction backstage with a former Intercontinental Champion, with whom he's all too familiar. He admitted that they can't keep avoiding each other forever.

That name is none other than CM Punk, who is a former Intercontinental and Tag Team Champion, along with the numerous World titles he has won across multiple promotions. This week on SmackDown, both Cody Rhodes and CM Punk had confrontations with John Cena.

While walking out for his King of the Ring match, he crossed paths with CM Punk, telling him that they can't run away from each other forever. CM Punk, in response, said that after Night of Champions, Cody Rhodes might be the one chasing him.

The American Nightmare advanced to the semi-finals of the King of the Ring tournament, where he will face either Rusev, Sheamus, Bronson Reed, or Jey Uso. It would certainly be interesting if he faced his former partner, Jey Uso, in the semis.

Either way, CM Punk isn't in it, and ahead of his big clash against John Cena in Riyadh for the final time, he poured salt on Cena's wound on SmackDown. As Ron Killings launched his second attack tonight on Cena, Punk told the Undisputed WWE Champion that the truth hurts.

Next week, Ron Killings gets a second shot at Cena while Punk gets ready for an Undisputed WWE Title shot at Night of Champions.
