The World Heavyweight Championship will be on the line at the upcoming WWE Money in the Bank Premium Live Event, where Damian Priest will defend it against Seth Rollins. Ahead of their showdown, former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. stated that Seth Rollins could regain the championship, thanks to Priest's apparent generosity in handing out title matches.
Seth Rollins made an unannounced return to WWE TV recently for the first time since WrestleMania XL and instantly made his intentions clear about winning back the World Heavyweight Championship.
Surprisingly enough, Damian Priest himself presented The Visionary with a shot at the title, and Freddie Prinze Jr. noted that, historically, champions had similarly lost their belts.
While sharing his predictions for Money in the Bank on Wrestling with Freddie, the former WWE writer backed Seth Rollins to defeat The Archer of Infamy and make The Judgment Day member pay for his misjudgment.
One wrong move ended his WWE career - Watch Now!
"Alex picked Seth Rollins to win; that's producer Alex. I, too, picked Seth Rollins to get his World Heavyweight Championship back and to make Damian Priest pay for the historically accurate prediction of champions offering up titles [shots] and losing them after they do so. I think Seth Freakin' Rollins!" he said. [20:05-20:30]
Freddie Prinze Jr. didn't like Damian Priest's recent actions
Fresh off an impressive title defense against Drew McIntyre at Clash at the Castle, Damian Priest's stock as champion seemingly improved, and he was no longer just seen as a transitional titleholder.
However, world title shots in kayfabe are supposed to be earned through consistent performances and high-profile wins. While Seth Rollins is an established name, Freddie Prinze Jr. found it odd that Damian readily offered the former champion a shot at his World Title.
Prinze Jr. explained:
"The World Heavyweight Championship match, Seth Freakin' Rollins vs. the champion, Damian fu**ing Priest, who offered Seth Rollins an opportunity to wrestle [for the title]. Didn't even make him earn it. He wants Seth Rollins at his absolute best. Is that a mistake? I didn't like it either." [19:35-20:04]
Even though Priest's title reign is improving rapidly, Seth Rollins might still be heading into Money in the Bank as the favorite to win his sixth World Championship in the company.
