Former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre has been among the top stars on the roster for a while now. The Scottish Warrior has feuded with several popular names over the years. He recently broke character to laud his most recent rival, Damian Priest.

The Scotsman defeated Seth Rollins to win the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XL. However, his joy was short-lived as The Archer of Infamy cashed in his Money in the Bank contract to dethrone McIntyre. The former Judgment Day member continued to get the better of Drew in high-stakes matches, including this year's Men's Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber matches. Despite suffering a loss against McIntyre at WrestleMania 41, Priest came out on top in their feud after picking up a decisive victory over The Scottish Warrior in a Steel Cage Match at Saturday Night's Main Event 39.

In an interview with Gorilla Position, Drew McIntyre said that his rivalry with Damian Priest made perfect sense. The 40-year-old praised the former Punishment Martinez, acknowledged the latter's hard work, and stated that he deserves an opportunity at the top.

"This is, to me, the most logical story. Priest is, you know, very good. He's still.. he's had his opportunity at my expense, of course. But from what I saw, aside [from] the cr*p with me, you know, he knocked it out of the park. He's worked hard. He's paid his dues. He deserves an opportunity at the top. But it's not going to be at my expense. So now he's going to get his chance to really prove it because he's got me on his case because I've got nothing else to do now except keep beating his a*se," he said. [From 7:33 to 8:02]

Drew McIntyre is yet to show up after losing to Damian Priest

Drew McIntyre defeated Damian Priest in a Sin City Street Fight at WrestleMania 41. However, their feud did not end there. The two stars competed in a fatal four-way match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship at the Backlash Premium Live Event.

Instead of prioritizing the title, McIntyre and Priest focused more on destroying each other. The Archer of Infamy hit The Scottish Warrior with a South of Heaven Chokeslam through a table before JC Mateo showed up and helped Jacob Fatu retain his title.

However, Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest continued their rivalry and faced off inside a steel cage at last month's edition of WWE Saturday Night's Main Event. The two stars put forth a brutal back-and-forth contest, which ended with Priest leaving the cage after nailing his opponent with a Con-Chair-To.

Drew McIntyre has been absent from WWE programming since the loss and is reportedly set to take some time off. It remains to be seen when the veteran will make his return to the squared circle.
