WWE released several superstars from its talent pool in September 2023 in what was seen as the biggest roster change after the takeover by TKO. Notably, Mustafa Ali was one of the names on that list.

The former WWE star recently withdrew from a match under controversial circumstances on TNA Impact and has now claimed that his undefeated record continues to be spotless. He participated in a star-studded 16-man tag team match and was frustrated at not getting tagged into the ring.

Once Ali had had enough he walked up to the commentary table and announced that he was ‘officially’ withdrawing from the tag team match. His team ultimately ended up losing, but he has now claimed on his Instagram that he still has zero losses on his record since he had withdrawn from the match, and was not defeated.

“FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Regarding the #ChampionsChallenge Match for @tnawrestling , let the record show that I, Mustafa Ali, formally withdrew from the competition before the conclusion of the match. Therefore, I am STILL undefeated. Thank you. - M.A.” he wrote.

The post carried an image of him gloriously raising his X Division Championship belt with the text on the image reading 37-0. Mustafa Ali was participating in a 16-person tag team match between TNA Champions and Team All-Star.

Despite being released from the Stamford-based company only in September 2023, he had been requesting an exit since early 2022. Notably, his faith in himself has paid good dividends ever since.

What has Mustafa Ali been doing after his WWE release?

Mustafa Ali entered the independent wrestling scene in December 2023 after parting ways with WWE. The star adopted the gimmick of a wrestling politician and has made appearances in several promotions, including NJPW, TNA, Game Changer Wrestling, etc.

The former WWE Superstar won the TNA X Division Championship on February 23, 2024, at No Surrender and is yet to meet a challenger who can best him. Notably, it was also his debut match on the promotion, so the 37-0 record holds true for his TNA career as well.

Ali has also talked about his exit from WWE and stated that he is happier after his release from the Stamford-based company on The Busted Open Podcast.

"The reality of the situation is I'm happy — for the first time in a long time, I'm happy… That's not a knock on anyone. It's just nice to finally [have some] control of what makes you happy," he said. [0:39 onwards]

Mustafa Ali said that unlike many of his peers, he believes he had done everything he could in WWE. He deemed that the two parties just didn’t make a good fit at the time. It would be interesting to see if he will also build himself in the independent scene just like Cody Rhodes and return like a globally celebrated warrior.
