A former WWE star was cut during the COVID-19 pandemic after an unfortunate stint, and he had a strong opinion about R-Truth and his return, praising the veteran.

On the latest episode of The Wrestling Outlaws, host Dr. Chris Featherstone spoke in length about Ron Killings, aka R-Truth, to ex-WWE writer Vince Russo, who worked with him in the 2000s in TNA, as well as ex-WWE star EC3.

EC3, who was released in 2020, had nothing but kind words to say about Ron Killings:

"R-Truth's the man, Ron is the man. He's the coolest dude. The guy you love on TV is that guy. I don't know if it was a real termination or a release, or if it was a work, and fan feedback brought him back in, but the dude's the best dude, so, nothing but high-fives and kudos, and I hope he keeps killing it." R-Truth is getting a huge rematch against John Cena next week.

Ron Killings is out for blood, and he only wants one man - John Cena. He managed to get the better of the 17-time world champion not once, but twice during the June 13, 2025, episode of SmackDown.

The first incident came off the heels of Ron Killings' incredible promo on RAW, where he appeared to shed the layers of the previous version of his character. On SmackDown, John Cena walked away from a situation where he was confronted by Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and LA Knight, only to be assaulted by R-Truth from behind.

This led to a heated confrontation between John Cena and Nick Aldis backstage, and later in the night, Cena came out again, this time to call Ron Killings out.

Instead, CM Punk appeared and silenced Cena with his promo, and once again, Killings assaulted the Undisputed WWE Champion from behind. Killings applied Cena's STF submission on him, and to add salt to the wound, Punk told his generational rival, "The truth hurts."

In the immediate aftermath of this segment, Nick Aldis said that he couldn't keep allowing Killings to launch such attacks. The legendary star then told the SmackDown General Manager to book a rematch, which was made official for June 20th.

So next week, Cena will be facing R-Truth in his first rematch of the retirement tour. It's going to be interesting to see how things play out just one week before the last-ever match between the 17-time world champion and The Best in the World.
