The former star revealed an interesting "real" side of wrestling

Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit were a part of the famous "SmackDown Six" in 2002 and helped make the blue brand what it is today. Former WWE star reveals that he and his uncle Eddie Guerrero had a shoot-style match and explained how common it was back in the day.

Speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling's Bill Apter in an Exclusive Interview, Chavo Guerrero spoke about how different things were back in the SmackDown Six Days.

Chavo told Apter that in Toronto, in his first main event alongside his uncle Eddie Guerrero, they legitimately kicked Angle and Benoit's a**es and described the hilarious confrontation he had with Angle afterward:

"The first time they put us together, a main event, that was on SmackDown, against Kurt Angle and Chris [Benoit]. It was Toronto, Maple Leaf Arena. We kicked their butts, we really did. It was very, very close. We went to the back and Kurt Angle came to us and said 'What the hell was that? You guys kicked our a**es'. And I went 'Weren't you going to do that to us?' and he was like 'Yeah'." [2:51 to 3:22]

Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, and The Guerreros belonged to the famous SmackDown six

In 2002, the early days of the brand split saw SmackDown revolve around six men - Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio, Edge, Eddie Guerrero, and Chavo Guerrero.

Although this period lasted for lesser time than people realize, the series of matches they all had against each other made for incredible programming, instantly elevating the SmackDown brand.

Interestingly, it was Paul Heyman who ended up being the one to push the SmackDown Six, as he was in charge of the blue brand's creative at the time. He revealed that when Chris Jericho became RAW exclusive, he asked for two men - Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero.

Heyman said that he was laughed at by others because Benoit and Guerrero weren't fully established stars by then. Given how WrestleMania 20 turned out two years later, it's safe to say that he was right in having faith in the two stars.
