A former WWE Superstar recently made a heartbreaking revelation about her title run. The 38-year-old star opened up about her emotional struggles despite winning the gold.

The name in question is former WWE Divas Champion Kaitlyn. She held the title she won in January 2013 for 153 days before losing it to AJ Lee at Payback. She announced her retirement and parted ways from the wrestling promotion the following year in 2014.

Speaking on The A2theK Wrestling Show, Kaitlyn recalled winning the WWE Divas Championship in her hometown. She added that winning the title did not fulfill the feeling she was searching for.

“If I could just get the title, that was supposed to be the thing. That was supposed to make me feel the way I wanted to feel. It was supposed to validate all the things that I, you know, questioned about myself, and when I got the title, it was, you know, I won the title on the 20th anniversary of RAW in my hometown as a babyface, like insane. But it didn’t fulfill this part that I was hoping. It didn’t fulfill this feeling that I was searching for since before my bodybuilding days," she said. [From 30:50 to 31:20]

Kaitlyn explained that she was struggling to find purpose. During that period, she started gaining weight and was emotionally imbalanced.

"I was kind of slowly coming to that realization. So, I was just struggling, again, emotionally. I was struggling with purpose, with meaning, if gaining the title did not fulfill me in the way that I had hoped, like it was depressing in a way because I was going through that turmoil. I was gaining a lot of weight, and I was just very emotionally imbalanced, and it showed.” [From 31:22 onwards]

Kaitlyn is open to returning to WWE for Royal Rumble appearance

Kaitlyn came out of retirement in 2018 to compete on the independent circuit. She also participated in the Mae Young Classic that year, where she lost to Mia Yim (aka Michin) in the second round.

Later in the interview, Kaityln was asked about a potential return to the wrestling promotion for the upcoming Women's Royal Rumble Match. She responded in the affirmative, claiming she is always open to an opportunity for a WWE appearance.

"It depends. I'm always down to do something cool, you know. If it's like cool and fun and like makes sense, I'm always down for that. I had gone to a Royal Rumble a couple of years ago where there was like a possibility that I was gonna be in it and it ended up not unfolding but I'm like, I have a whole different life now but WWE is such a big part of who I am. So, I'm always down for stuff that makes sense. I'm always down, that's really cool. And it just hasn't really unfolded that way yet. But yeah, I'm always open to opportunity for something to cross over or to make sense again. Always open for that," she said. [38:02 - 38:41]

Kaitlyn hasn't stepped inside the squared circle since the GWA Women's Title match to Nicolth Lucero in December 2019. It remains to be seen if she will ever return to WWE.
