A former WWE star has opened up about a scrapped rivalry with The Bella Twins. Nikki and Brie Bella were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a tag team in 2021.

Cassie Lee, formerly known as Peyton Royce in The IIconics tag team with Billie Kay, has shared some details about a scrapped feud against The Bella Twins. Speaking on the Ring the Belle podcast, the former WWE Superstar was asked what she knew about the rumored rivalry. She shared that she didn't know much but it would have been a dream match for The IIconics.

"All I know is that we were supposed to go into a story from WrestleMania to SummerSlam. That is all I know. That would have been a dream come true for us, but everything happens for a reason," she said. [From 07:08 - 07:22]

Peyton Royce and Billie Kay were released by the company in April 2021. The duo spent some time in Impact Wrestling following their departure from the company.

Peyton Royce comments on being released by WWE

Peyton Royce disclosed that she was shocked to find out she was being released by WWE.

The IIconics appeared on Busted Open Radio in 2021 shortly after being let go by the company. During the interview, Royce shared that she was initially shocked to learn she was being released.

She noted that the company does budget cuts every year but they hadn't done one in a while at the time. The former Women's Tag Team Champion added she should have seen it coming because the promotion had already split them up on the main roster.

"So, it was absolutely a shock, because obviously they do the budget cuts once a year, but they hadn't done it in a while, and then I thought last years was just purely because of the pandemic, so I didn't see it coming and maybe I should have, especially because I was really doing nothing. Since they split us up," she said.

The IIconics captured the Women's Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 35. The duo would go on to drop the titles to Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross on the August 5, 2019 edition of RAW. It will be interesting to see if Royce and Kay get the chance to appear on WWE television again down the line.
