Gunther was part of a huge title match on RAW this week, but the star faced more than a few difficulties and came to a sudden end. On top of that, he was also interrupted by a top rival, which will lead to a future title match.
Gunther and Goldberg could be a big feud for WWE down the line, but it appears that Cody Rhodes will be the first star he faces. At Bad Blood, The Ring General confronted the WWE Hall of Famer and crossed all lines, insulting him as a father. This led to Goldberg almost brawling with him before Zayn attacked the World Heavyweight Champion.
As per the announcement by Triple H on the show, Crown Jewel will see the Undisputed WWE Champion face the World Heavyweight Champion. Cody Rhodes is heading into the show as champion, but Gunther still has to defend his title against Sami Zayn. With Goldberg having picked a fight with him, there were some expectations he may interfere in the bout, but that didn't happen.
The Ring General ended the match suddenly after locking in the Gojira Clutch, his grounded sleeper hold. Even when it looked like Sami Zayn may escape, he couldn't. Instead, the World Heavyweight Champ won the match very abruptly. However, his celebrations were cut short as well.
As he was heading out of the arena, The Ring General was interrupted by Cody Rhodes. Having retained his title, the former will now face The American Nightmare at Crown Jewel in a confirmed Champion vs. Champion match. The winner will be crowned as the first Men's Crown Jewel Champion.
