While WWE is climbing new heights in the pro wrestling business, Vince Russo thinks there is a problem with the roster itself. According to him, the stars and creative department lack a key ingredient.
In today's WWE booking, the roster is generally dominated by serious contenders willing to do anything to win the top prize. However, several characters in the past were meant purely for comedy. While one could argue that stars like R-Truth fulfill this niche today, there is a distinct lack of humor in current programming.
On this week's episode of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws, Vince Russo discussed how the WCW Hardcore Championship was once renamed the Saskatchewan Hardcore International Title, which made for an interesting acronym. He stated that such humor was now lost.
"Here's the problem, bro. Nobody has a sense of humor in wrestling anymore. Nobody's got, nobody has... There used to be those characters, where they were, Eric Young like they were the comedy. It's just, it's non-existent. It's non-existent," Russo said. [10:41 onwards]
The WWE veteran was also not pleased with Ludwig Kaiser
Vince Russo has often been very vocal about WWE's creative department's decision. According to him, Ludwig's match with Bron Breakker did not make sense.
Speaking on an episode of Legion of RAW, the former head writer stated that Ludwig should not have been on equal footing with Bron Breakker. He said:
"Bron Breakker is going 50-50 with Kaiser. Bron Breakker, at this point, is just another wrestler on the roster. That’s all he is, bro! That’s it!" he said.
As of now, it remains to be seen what is next for Ludwig Kaiser down the line.
