Hulk Hogan was a wrestling legend and icon in the truest sense. WWE Hall of Famer Gerald Brisco recently shared his favorite moments from the Hulkster's storied career.
Terry Bollea, aka Hulk Hogan, passed away last month at the age of 71. The wrestling world was shocked by the news of the icon's passing. Tributes flowed in from wrestlers, fans, and even celebrities for the veteran, a testimony to his star power and mainstream reach.
On a recent episode of The Wrestling Time Machine, hosted by Mac Davis, special guest Gerald Brisco said the early years of Hulkamania were wild. He recalled how Hogan brushed shoulders with the biggest stars in the business, such as the Iron Sheik, Macho Man Randy Savage, and the Ultimate Warrior. He said that Hulk's success with WWE paved the way for the company to become a global superpower in sports entertainment.
"I just really enjoyed the beginning of Hulkamania more than anything else. That's what's stamped in my mind. The Mega Powers it was Savage and Hogan. How much bigger can you get? Even with The Ultimate Warrior. Is Warrior going to get over enough to take Hogan's place? Can Warrior carry the ball, and sure enough, nobody could carry that Hulkamania ball. The beginning stages from WrestleMania 1, from the time he beat Iron Sheik in Madison Square Garden. Those were the times that I think that really started setting Hulkamania into action."
