Gunther's tyranny as WWE's Intercontinental Champion cannot be replicated for years to come. However, The Ring General gave honest thoughts on whether he could've replicated the same success under Vince McMahon's regime.

In 2022, Gunther finally moved to WWE's main roster and became the Intercontinental Champion on Friday Night SmackDown under the previous regime before Triple H took over the creative.

Speaking on Gorilla Position, the interviewer asked The Ring General if he could've achieved the same success by becoming the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion under Vince McMahon's rule.

"I don't know. There was one of those reasons why, for a long time, I didn't want to go to the US because what the product was before Triple H was not what I enjoyed. I just didn't want to be a part of that. I am who I am, and that's what I can do best. The big part of that is that I need to have my time in the ring. I need to have time to put on the matches I can put on. And that chance wouldn't just not be there under the old regime."

He also praised Triple H's regime, which allowed the star to showcase his style and skills.

"With Triple H, he always saw it in me, and I think he always had that vision for me. I got lucky that a lot of things in my career fell into place at the right time. There was a little bit of a leap of faith when I first made the move over. Yeah, everything worked out in the end." [From 19:34 to 20:26]

Gunther recently returned to WWE RAW

Gunther was undefeated on WWE's main roster for nearly two years after appearing on Friday Night SmackDown following WrestleMania in Texas alongside Ludwig Kaiser.

The star finally lost the Intercontinental Championship during the two-night event in Philadelphia after reviving the title and making it more prestigious for other stars on the roster.

Recently, he made his return to WWE RAW after his loss to Sami Zayn at WrestleMania XL. However, The Ring General won't go after the champion or the title, as he wants to win the upcoming King of the Ring tournament.

Later, on Gunther's order, Ludwig Kaiser kicked Giovanni Vinci out of the Imperium stable on WWE RAW. It will be interesting to see what the duo does next on the brand.
