"I thought a lot of this was politics" - Ex-WWE writer discusses how plans changed after Rhea Ripley's injury (Exclusive)

Rhea Ripley relinquished the Women's World Championship last week on RAW

Wrestling veteran and former writer Vince Russo feels WWE is punishing Liv Morgan for injuring Rhea Ripley.

A couple of weeks ago, Morgan attacked Ripley during a backstage segment. The attack was so vicious that the champ was injured and she vacated the Women's World Championship the following week on RAW. This Monday night, WWE had the women compete in a Battle Royal to crown the new champ which Becky Lynch ended up winning.

This week on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, Russo felt that Nia Jax was a natural choice for winning the Women's World title. He detailed there was no way Liv Morgan was winning after putting Rhea Ripley out of action. He felt this was a punishment for her since the management viewed The Eradicator as a huge asset and were not happy with her injury.

"I thought a lot of this was politics. And that's why I thought Nia Jax was the obvious choice to go over because I thought Becky was gonna spend some time at home. I gotta tell ya, I don't think they were gonna put the belt on Liv because she hurt Rhea Ripley. There's a little punishment involved. She put Rhea Ripley out in a backstage fight that should've never happened. I guarantee you bro, there were people up top that were not happy about that." [18:00 onwards]
