CM Punk left WWE in early 2014 due to a string of frustrations with the company. He finally made his surprising return to the promotion at the Survivor Series: WarGames event in 2023, a full nine years later.
Unlike Punk, R-Truth made his return just seven days after his release. Many fans pointed out this detail on X/Twitter following Truth's comeback.

Truth's release did not sit well with the WWE Universe at all. The former 24/7 Champion is one of the most beloved figures in professional wrestling today. He has made tons of close friends over the years in the industry, and many of them expressed their unhappiness over his release.
Truth came back during the final moments of Money in the Bank 2025 and attacked John Cena, eliciting a loud reaction from the fans in attendance. This interference helped Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso to secure a victory over Cena and the ever-controversial Logan Paul in a tag team match.
