WWE News: Kane talks about Undertaker's WrestleMania 33 farewell and potential return

The Undertaker laid his gear down at WrestleMania 33

What’s the story?

Kane recently appeared at the Middle East Film & Comic Con in Dubai where he participated in an interview with Gulf News. Kane stated in the interview that he was saddened by the Phenom’s retirement just like all the fans all around the world. The original Demon of the WWE even shed light on his own return.

In case you didn’t know...

Kane (real name Glen Jacobs) made his professional wrestling debut in 1992, wrestling in the midwest and having a single match in WCW.

He’d become Dr, Isaac Yankem in 1995 before the famous debut as Kane at the 1997 pay per view Bad Blood, where he cost Undertaker his bout with Shawn Michaels in the very first Hell In A Cell match.

The heart of the matter...

In regards to The Undertaker’s match against Roman Reigns, Kane said the following:

"(Smiling) Well, Undertaker can take care of himself! We all knew at some point that was inevitable, but nevertheless it's, sad because for me it's like a chapter has closed, and I think a lot of WWE fans feel the same way."

Kane was asked about the possibility of him avenging his kayfabe brother’s retirement, but he chose to ignore the question for some reason.

On his WWE return, Kane dropped an interesting hint:

"That is, as we say in the States, TBD, to be determined. And I wouldn't want to ruin any surprises if I did know…"

While portrayed as brothers in the WWE, one can imagine that Kane and The Undertaker are very close outside of the wrestling business as well. The connection between Kane and The Undertaker has lived for 20 years now, and they will always be associated with each other.

What’s next?

The future for Undertaker is up in the air, but Kane has been rather busy.

He has stated that he would be making a big announcement in this upcoming week. Many speculate that he will announce his intention to run for mayor of Knox Country, Tennessee where he owns an insurance company with his wife.

Author’s take

I would take the “to be determined” quote from Kane as The Undertaker weighing all of his options in the future. I’m assuming that the two major choices for the Deadman would be to wait until the Hall of Fame to re-appear or he could start an on-camera role as a manager or authority figure.

It’s probably unlikely that he would take that on-camera role, but one can never say never in the WWE. You can almost pencil him into the 2018 WWE Hall of Fame class already though, with an outside shot that he might wrestle in just “one more match.”
